Posting a Photographers Work: Best Practices

We are so glad you love those finished images and that you’re excited to share them with the world! This post will give you a few best practices when posting a photographer’s work.

Download or save the image

The first thing you want to do is download or save the image. Once your photographer sends your images online you should save them on to your personal device. Your photographer has delivered high-quality edits and you should make sure you retain the quality by saving the image. Screenshotting images can significantly lower the quality of an image so it’s best to save the image instead.

Don’t add a filter

Your photographer worked hard to shoot and edit your finished images and it is important to keep their work intact. Not adding a filter or modifying the image helps to retain the integrity of the photographer’s work. You chose the photographer because of what their work looked like and if you don’t like the way your images are edited, talk to your photographer and see if they could make changes for you.

Post The Entire Image

Another thing that could affect the quality of an image is cropping. When you post, be sure to post the whole image for everyone to see. Your photographer took the time to frame, crop, and compose that image, and posting without cropping is a great way to keep their work intact.

Tag the photographer

When you post don’t forget to tag or mention your photographer. Tagging your photographer will let them know that you posted and they can engage with your post. You are also supporting them by attaching the tag, now wherever that image goes, everyone will know who’s work is being represented.
